Description: Work at sea on board the Franc-Tireur, a Bigouden trawler based in Concarneau. This documentary describes the hardships of the fishermen "20 days at sea, 2 days on land": nets that are thrown out accompanied by seagulls, emptying and scaling of the catch on the boat. The work never stops, night and day, the men pull the "trawl", fearing that it will tear. The communal sharing of revenues is evoked. At the end of the voyage, the men get dressed up to arrive on land, but the reunion is short-lived. If the images (very polished), the commentary (literary) and the title song (sung by Yves Montand), evoke - sometimes in a romantic way - the job of a kingfisher, "Mon Ami Pierre..." also situates the daily life of the sailors in the vast community of men at work... "Mon Ami Pierre..." is one of Procinex's carefully crafted short films, which aim to present the world of work to the widest possible audience, without making an explicit political statement. The choice of the Franc-Tireur was not a coincidence: this trawler was built in a cooperative in Guilvinec and, from the skipper to the sailor, everyone got an equal share. Its launch, like that of the Franc-Tireur, was popularized by the P.C.F.
